You are encouraged to use the comments to this post to introduce yourself to the approximately 60 or so new Rowan University freshman math majors and to the faculty in the math department.
Hey my name is Stephanie Martin and I am also an Education major along with math. I never played sports in high school, but I do like them. I am a huge Yankees fan. I was involved in 13 clubs at my school though...yep that's about it =]
I took my first math class here during the Nixon presidency. Though my math SAT was higher than English, I opted for a journalism career. Now, I edit sports for the Phila. Daily News, and I get annoyed when I fix writers' math errors and they rationalize their mistakes by telling me, "Math is not my strong suit." And because journalism is on such wobbly footing, I'm studying GIS at Rowan, and taking a math course -- and I feel like a freshman again ... Deb Woodell
This is Cory Elder again and to make this easier and since i want to know the people that i am going to be around here is my facebook http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=655253300&ref=profile hit me up
im brandon maggio, and im from sussex nj. i like football, wrestling, weight training, track, and ultimate fighting. going to be a math major, can't wait to go to college. see you guys there. oh, and hit me up on facebook, trying to get to know some more kids before school starts.
I'm Dr. Ron Czochor (pronounced ZOCOR like the drug). I'll be teaching one of the sections of Calculus I for Learning Community members this fall. I'm very excited about meeting all of you this fall. I haven't gotten a chance to meet any of you during Orientation because I just got back from my daughter's Freshman Orientation. Her program at American University was very much like Rowan's program and I can certainly understand the feeling of information overload many of you might be feeling. If you feel that you have a question that was not answered feel free to send me an email this summer and I'll do what I can to answer it. Like many of you I have an interest in sports although I do not do any ultimate fighting. I have been a lifelong Red Sox fan (I do have friends and relatives who are Yankee fans and I get along with them just fine.) My two daughters (18 and 21) are both big baseball fans and so I have also become a big Phillies fan because of them. My doctoral research was in biomathematics where I worked with a mathematical model that studied the coevolution of host resistance and disease virulence. So I'm an applied mathematician who also teaches probability and statistics. I don't Twitter or Facebook, although my wife and kids have been trying to get me to develop my Facebook page. I don't have any friends on Facebook, because I haven't logged in to accept any offers of friendship. Commenting on this Blog is a very big step for me. If I can do it, I'm sure more of you can.
I just typed my birth date into Wolfram alpha and found out that I was 20,939 days old. No wonder I'm so tired.
